The Angry Red Planet April 3, 2011Posted by bobv451 in ideas, sci-fi, science, science fiction, VIPub, writing.
All kinds of nifty stuff hitting the news about Mars (which, like Pluto, is a planet). The first I came across told about avalanches in the north polar region that suggest (water?) ice and show strata nicely.
Water ice is a nice thing to find if the Chinese decide to go there. (Or the Israelis, since they seem intent on putting a rover on the moon) Today the moon, tomorrow Mars?
But this one made me wonder. Nuclear blast on Mars turned it red? Not sure of the connection but intriguing, especially if it is a naturally occurring reaction such as the one in Gabon and written about in Tom Swift in the Caves of Nuclear Fire.
The next couple months are going to be hectic. Have 1.25 books to write, 6 short stories/novellas to do and my son’s graduation to cope with. But I will keep soldiering on (seen the Army’s new hats? That is nothing less than awesome–I’d like one but not to the extent of, you know, joining, as if they would take me). Return with us to those thrilling frontier days! Yeehaw! If the rest of the world wants to call us cowboys, wear that Stetson proudly!
