It is a great time to be a writer. Gutenberg cranked out copies of bibles for the masses. Now any author can go the VIPub e-route and reach more than a handful of people. The world is ours. Each of us is our own Gutenberg–and better. We get to write what we’re publishing.

Lee Goldeberg blogged about Amanda Hocking and her 450,000 sales a month. He also mentioned another writer I am unfamiliar with. Stephen Leather, a Brit, has phenomenal success with his own books, too. The era of “Self-published” being a pejorative is over.

What’s necessary is to find a niche, write well, edit and publish well, give the reader what’s wanted most and…you’re doing better as a writer than at any other time in history.

The news of the iPad2 mentioned the chance for close to 30million units being sold by the end of this year. And then there are the smartphones which also serve as readers. That’s our audience, folks. That’s us.

And what about the rumor that there will be an iPad3 before the end of the year?

As much as I enjoy autographings such as at the Ren Faire, the real market is worldwide. All that’s needed is the venue to put out a variety of material, not only written but electronic, audio and video. While at the Ren Faire Don Juan and Miguel and Mike Stackpole and I talked about such collaboration. More if we can get this project off the ground, but it is pretty darned exciting to me.

Exciting, too, is the full-fledged release of A Career Guide to Your Job in Hell in print and ebook for the iPad.

Dozens have said you “liked” it via FB. Now go out there, choose your favorite format, and enjoy it!

Don’t forget the autographing this Saturday (March 5, 2:30 at Page One Books) for Golden Reflections.

As Calvin might say, the days are just packed. Enjoy them!

Well, I’m aiming at 450,000 sales of my e-books this month, my self! And I’m off to a pretty good start!

But I have a strong feeling that I won’t reach that goal.

On the other hand, it’s only the second day of the month.

I only need 449,998 to catch up!

That’s doable!
