Been working on 4 projects simultaneously and am blur-eyed from it (if only I could be like “The Blur” on Smallville!). Fantasy Football is nearing the close on the ProForecaster issue, with 3 more titles to go in the next month. God of War 2 makes me feel like I’ve been put into a time-vise with the jaws squeezing down but today and tomorrow (massive global cooling notwithstanding–this might be the earliest Abq has registered 100 degrees) will see great progress on it since this will be my exclusive project. Long Ridge is being put on hold for another couple days, but that’s ok since I didn’t get the mss until Thursday.

And the last story is in for the crappy jobs anthology. What a line up. Scott Phillips (Gimme Skelter), Axel Howerton, John Joseph Miller, Victor Milan, Brandie Tarvin, Nathan Long, Scott Denning, me and Scott Phillips (Ice Harvest).

Don Adams (Dozers) is doing an intro and Keith Rainville (Tales of Misery & Imagination) is on tap to do the cover and layout.

Both fiction and nonfiction, sf, horror, a take on mythology, a couple I can’t put into clever little “editor-niches” which is fine. There are stories of jobs shaking rats, cubicle dwellers, picking up bird guts from under wind turbines, babysitting, taxi driving to find a hooker, “head” man on a guillotine–those are some of the subjects, funny and not so funny.

What a great crew, what a great title for the book! Uh, oh, right. Sorry about that. We really don’t have a title yet. Get a free copy of the book and acknowledgment if you come up with a great title. Be warned, you’re up against Don, the Scotts, me–ok, not me. I haven’t been able to find *the* perfect title after months of trying, so I’m dealing myself out. But I’ll know it when I hear it. Start submitting. Win a copy of…you get to name it!

Gainful Employment
with “Gainful” crossed out and “Painful” scrawled above it.

There are so many wonderful neologisms. Funemployment seems a permanent state for more than 9% of the population. Staycation is what most of us do in place of a lengthy vacation trip. As the old saw goes, a recession is when your neighbor is out of work. When you are out of work, it’s a depression.
